Dear FLAM user,

this is the new version FLAM (MVS) V4.4A to upload on to your z/OS host
stored as a FLAMFILE:

     FLAMV44A.ADC                 compressed with MODE=ADC

The FLAMFILE contains the data sets

     FLAM.FLAMV44A.PANELS              Panels
     FLAM.FLAMV44A.SKELS               Procedures for FLAM panels
     FLAM.FLAMV44A.SRCLIB              Examples
     FLAM.FLAMV44A.FLAMUAES.PDF        German manual about FLAM & AES (binary)
     FLAM.FLAMV44A.HANDBUCH.PDF        German manual (binary)
     FLAM.FLAMV44A.MANUAL.PDF          English manual (binary)

Please transfer FLAMV44A.ADC on to your host (binary, recordsize 512 bytes
and any blocksize). The file requires 77 tracks storage amount on a 3390 disk.


If you are a 'new user' without having FLAM, please follow the instruction in the directory \newuser.


All files will be created and allocated during decompressing with your old FLAM version (min. V3.0 is required).

Having FLAM (MVS) V4.2A (or newer) installed, you can use parameter OVOLUME, OUNIT to define the disk where the data shall be stored.

Please choose the file names your organisation requires.
You can change the names on decompression:                                  

   //DEC  EXEC PGM=FLAM,PARM='D,FLAMO=<FLAM.FLAMV44A.*=user.pref.*>'
   //STEPLIB   DD  DSN=user.FLAM.LOAD,DISP=SHR
   //FLAMFILE  DD  DSN=user.FLAMV44A.ADC,DISP=SHR
   //FLPRINT   DD  SYSOUT=*

All filenames starting with 'FLAM.FLAMV44A.' will be changed to 'user' as
the 1st qualifier, 'pref' as 2nd qalifier. The rest (*) remains unchanged.

Examples:

1) Your userid is 'E24AM', all other qualifiers are suitable. All date are to be stored on disk ZASYS1. This is a 3390 unit type.

   Please choose the parameter:

      D,FLAMO=<FLAM.*=E24AM.*>,OVOL=ZASYS1,OUNIT=3390

   Then, all files will have the names

     E24AM.FLAMV44A.CLIST      CLIST-Procedures
     E24AM.FLAMV44A.JOBLIB     Batch-Jobs
     ...  etc.

    and are stored on diskvolume ZASYS1.

2) Your userid is 'E24AM', the 2nd qualifier shall be changed to 'FLAM.V4R4M0'.

   Please choose the paramter:

      FLAMO=<FLAM.FLAMV44A.*=E24AM.FLAM.V4R4M0.*>

   Then, all files will be created as

     E24AM.FLAM.V4R4M0.CLIST      CLIST-Procedures
     E24AM.FLAM.V4R4M0.JOBLIB     Batch-Jobs
     ...  etc.


Compatibility:
==============

Switching to the new libraries is all you have to do. Calls in JCL or programs remain unchanged.

FLAM (MVS) V4.4A decompresses/decrypts all FLAMFILEs as from FLAM V1.

A FLAMFILE of V4.4 is backward compatibel to FLAM V2 (without MODE=ADC and any encryption), to FLAM V3 (with MODE=ADC and FLAM-encryption), to V4.0 with no restriction.



Licensation:
============

As usual, please start FLAMV44A.JOBLIB(INST01) for licensation. Please use your licence string of FLAM V4.x, if you have any.

If you have programs, that are linked in a static way with FLAM modules, please link them again with the new version.



FLAM panels:
============

Please start as usual from the ISPF command line

                  TSO EXEC FLAMV44A(CUST)

It is recommended to add the new libraries to your TSO logon procedure. If not, procedure FLAMLIBS will allocate temporarily the libs to ISPF. So it is possible first to call FLAMLIBS and then the other procedures in ISPF 3.4.
Look for FLAMV44A.CLIST($FABOUT) how to install FLAM panels. 



Manuals:
========

We send our manuals in PDF-format to use on PC's.
They are prepared to use e.g. with ACROBAT(R) Reader.

Please look into directory \FLAM\MANUALS for further details.

After decompresion of the FLAMFILE on the host, manuals are stored to disk. So every host user is able to download his private manual to a pc. 

Attention: download the pdf-manual as a binary file!
